It’s been awfully quiet over here for a long long time, too long. The last post goes back to January. But alot has happened the past 6 months … actually that much that I can say my life is a little shook up at the moment, and not only my life but the life of our whole family.
The trouble started with my father in law passing away unexpected about 2 months ago at age 51, just when An and me have bought us some land early this year and started building our own house. On top of that my brother in law, his only son, got really sick last month and it looks like he’s not going to get well really soon. With the situation like this and not about to change anytime soon I’m all of a sudden in charge of taking care of the cattle my father in law and his son held (10+ sheep, 3 cows and 3 bulls) and damn, a farmers life is hard if you’ve always been used to spend your life in front of a computer. To top things off when we started building our house we noticed the neighbors built their house 1m50 on our property so we can’t fit our house and carport next to each other. Arrrrgh!!!! But i’m happy that case is settled now and we can move on finishing our own place.
But I’ve got some good news too … I’m about to become dad for the first time!! God was that an unexpected shocker when An told me she was pregnant … of course the joy that her pregnancy brings was a little tempered when her father died all of a sudden. It’s a real shame our child will never get to know it’s grandfather, what a wonderful man he was.
Anyhow, i’m trying to pick up the pieces again and try to pull myself and our family through as well as I can and I hope that the few readers I have here will understand that this blog will possibly remain a little silent for the coming months until our child is to be born somewhere around the beginning of December.

Pink for october is like CSS naked day but for a good cause. In this case Matthew Oliphant at Usabilityworks is trying convince thousands of sites to change their designs to incorporate the colour pink and bring notice for National Breast Cancer Awareness month. Great initiative! If I find the time i’m in!

I don’t know how many of my readers actually follow the “Tour de France” but i’m sick of the press’ attitude towards Tom Boonen. He was forced to step out of the Tour this afternoon, suffering from breathing problems. Very well, he’s not the first one to quit the Tour this year. But you can’t open a newspaper, turn on the TV or switch on the radio without some silly reporter asking the question “Is this years Tour de France a disaster for Tom Boonen?”.
No he didn’t win a single stage, yes he was outclasses by Robby McEwen this year, yes he didn’t make it through the Alpes and yes he didn’t finish the Tour 2 years in a row. But on the other hand he’s defending world champion, won the Tour of Flanders 2005 and 2006, finished second in Paris-Roubaix 2006 (damn that train) and won in 2005, won the last 3 editions of the E3-price, won 3 stages in Paris-Nice 2006 and 4 stages in this years Tour of Qatar, … I could go on for a little while with this list but I think my point is made.
We Belgians should be proud to have a cyclist like Tom Boonen, no matter how he performs in the Tour.
I’d say, lets try get that Green Shirt next year Tom!

Actually i’m already back for about 3 weeks but this is the first time I actually have some time to process the 1000+ pictures I took and make a small selection to put up on Flickr. You can check them out if you want.
You are probably wondering too why this blog has gotten so very slow … well that’s basically because i’m working a new project on which I will spill more details soon.
Keep your eyes open
Chris out.

Djeez i’m happy because we’re leaving for a long awaited vacation today! 2 full weeks of Turkey. An and I are going to tour around Turkey for the first week, visiting sites like Troy, Ephesus, Pamukkale, Bursa and Istanbul.
After this week of sightseeing we decided to extend our vacation with a week of doing nothing but lie in the sun and take the occasional dive in the swimmingpool and sea. The hotel of our choice is (just like last year) the Aegean Dream Resort with an absolutely fabulous accomodation. Friendly personel, great food (4 restaurants!!!), superb animation and last but not least …. all drinks for free during our stay, including beer, spirits and liquors!!
You won’t hear me complaint for the coming two weeks, not that you heard anything for me lately but yet … i’m off!!! Wheeee!!
Edit: Whoaaa! Almost a month without an update … i should really get back to spending some more time on my blog!!! And what about that new design?? Yea … what about it … hmmm … stay tuned i’d say.
