Quick tip: Create new folder shortcut in Windows XP
Geplaatst in Applicaties Reeds 33 reacties op dit berichtI’ve been looking forever for a solid solution to quickly create a new folder in Windows XP. There is the obvious ALT, F, W, F keyboard combo but that’s a little too much work for me (yes i’m lazy I know), an additional hurdle to tackle is that my PC at work runs Windows XP Dutch version so that makes for another keyboard combo, way to inconvenient. Then I came by a nice little program by Bill Lasagne (what’s in a name …) which allows you to assign a keyboard shortcut to create new folders, I installed the 1.0 beta and it works flawlessly.
You can get it here: http://biglasagne.webpark.pl/projects.html
Awesome!!!
I was recently really annoyed as I couldn’t find a quick way of creating a new folder, as I often have to create quite a few. This is such a simple little application but really handy.
Thank you!!
I second this. I’ve just downloaded this program and it works beautifully. Thanks for the recommendation. =D
haha, I don’t need it anymore, I not more lazzy
Awsome Program! This is just exactly what I need! Great Fix. Thanks!
fantastic!
good.
I have been looking for a way to do this for YEARS, but every thing I tried always had something wrong with it. Either it wouldn’t let me use the hotkey that I wanted, or was very slow to create the folder (I could have done it faster myself by using the mouse), or it pops up annoying dialogs to name folder etc. I even tried macro programs to make my own, but that didn’t work either.
mdAxelerator (once it’s configured correctly) just instantly makes folder as soon as I press a single key (I chose F9).
It’s fantastic!(although I do prefer the older version to the newer beta)
Thanks for the tip.
[...] Every now and then we create folders for sorting our stuffs, and there’s never been an efficient way to create new folders in Windows without having to use that mouse. Time for some nirvana, mdAxel is a tiny application that can create a new folder just by using the assigned keyboard shortcut. It even triggers a folder creation dialog box which includes a pull-down menu from which you can reuse or edit previous names. Gone are the days when every weekend I used to sit back hours cleaning up the mess that accumulated during the week. MdAxel is a free download for Windows only. mdAxel [via Skyrocket Concepts] [...]
The biggest downside to this is that it isn’t Vista compatible. bxNewFolder basically does the same thing, though.
[...] Windows only: There’s never been an elegant or efficient way to create new folders in Windows without getting the mouse involved. Alt+F+W+F? Definitely not quick. But lightweight application mdAxel can assign a keyboard shortcut to the act of creating a new folder. The shortcut triggers a folder creation dialog box which includes a pull-down menu of previous names you’ve used for easy reuse or editing. After mdAxel made making new folders easier from the keyboard, my weekend task of organizing a mountain of media into a neat folder structure became much more bearable. fantastic, I’ve been looking for a program to do this for years. You would think that Microsoft would have stolen this by now. And on that note, are there any LINUX version in the works. I would be happy to beta test it.
All the best.

Greath! ThankYou!
I found an easier solution and it’s so much cooler too as you don’t have to install any third party crud. It’s…BUY A MAC! Ha! CMMD-N automatically creates a new folder.
Just kidding folks. But it is true M$ give us junk for the $$ when they overlook simple stuff like this.
Thanks for the link.
10x man !!!!

The MAC idea sounds great, but this is just a wonderful and very simple solution for the ones who donĀ“t have that choice because of what ever reason (4 me money)… therefore, thanks a lot for the link!!!!!!
Ok, for those who want a pretty hard core solution that doesn’t involve downloading other peoples apps, here you go.
Purpose – Hit a key combo & “new folder” appears on your desktop,
Choose OK
1) Create a new shortcut, (where ever, but in a place you won’t delete it)
2) In Location put mkdir “%USERPROFILE%\Desktop\New Folder”
3) Click Next
4) Name: Create New Folder
5) Click Finish
6) Right Click on this new file & click properties
7) In the “Shortcut Key” box press – ctrl-shift-n (or what ever you prefer)
*Note this does not overwrite or rename if that folder exists.
i didn’t find a quick fix to do that.
grl
In the working directory,
Right click the mouse, then press W and F
